Pasadena songstress Fana Hues spearheads the See You Next Year compilation album with her sultry summer track "Drive". Her latest release since widely-acclaimed 2022 album "flora + fana".
Here in Los Angeles, it's getting hotter with each passing day. And this track is definitely contributing to the heat. Detailing a deep desire for a special someone, the artist sings of her affinity for speeding down winding roads at sunset. Her object of attraction causes her to throw caution to the wind, and she embraces the riskiness of lust. Fana Hues's voice has a magnetic warmth that draws the listener in, and the baseline will make sure you're not getting away any time soon. It's no wonder the record slaps though, it was produced by musical wizard Mike Dean, a Texan who boasts no shortage of accolades. The retro-futuristic sound of this track creates a nostalgia that reminds us of great R&B legends of the '60s and '70s, an era of music that serves as a significant beacon of inspiration for Hues.
As far as the writing & recording of "Drive" goes, it all happened very organically. Fana explains, "Drive was a breath of fresh air, creatively, for me, because I got to just go off and do what it is that came naturally." The track is the first single on See You Next Year, the compilation album from Pigeons + Planes in partnership with global-boutique music label Big.Ass.Kids. The album features 10 of this years most-promising rising artists, with See You Next Year launching as an "ever-evolving music discovery platform" that will reimagine the way we connect with artists. Grab your favorite headphones or your favorite speaker, and make sure to take in all the sweet sonics "Drive" has to offer.
