"MOM JEANS" BY morgen: F*CK SOCIETY, DO YOU BOO

Updated: Aug 4, 2022

The West Coast teenager, whose artistic flare is sure to light up your world, is back with another truly exceptional record. "Mom Jeans" hit streaming services July 7th, along with a surprise release music video. Listen now.

Feisty, honest, and groove-inducing, "Mom Jeans" had me fully hooked in the first three seconds. Produced by Jack Laboz, the track opens with a few rhythmic non-assuming guitar chords, then morgen's punchy, amped vocal enters at full force. The high-powered drum arrangement fuels this speeding vehicle, and her unique vocal approach, blending spoken protest-style verses with a smoother melodic chorus, carries you steadily the whole ride through. Detailing her feelings of frustration, confusion, and championing self-confidence, this track chronicles the daily truth for women dealing with society's ever changing depiction of "attractive". About her single, morgen says, "'Mom Jeans' is the first time I've truly spoken out in a song." "It's about body image and how people's opinions shouldn't affect the way you present yourself, because you deserve to wear whatever makes YOU feel good," the musical prodigy shares.

The 18 year old singer-songwriter, California-grown and now residing in the adult playground that is Los Angeles, has already gained some notable recognition on her earlier works. morgen's debut EP "Unaccompanied Minor" was backed by Billboard, Spotify, and Apple, just to name a few. Her tracks "3D" and "Odd One Out" found themselves being praised by the one-and-only Elton John on his Apple Music radio show, and her single "Fine By Me" made the top 100 charts in Australia. With her sophomore EP slated to arrive in Autumn 2022, we are eagerly patiently awaiting the next body of work from morgen.
