You've been releasing music on SoundCloud since 2015, all of your songs are so well crafted. How would you describe your musical journey over the past years and how do you feel presently?
I would describe my musical journey as a parallel to my soul journey. It may sound corny, but I feel like you know you’re on the right path when it also helps to heal parts of yourself. At the beginning of my career, I was still finding my voice in reality and in music, however the music and feedback inspired me to be more confident and comfortable with who I am. From 2016-2018 I was really just having fun with it, experimenting with sounds, starting to produce my own beats and finding my style within that. Since 2021 I feel like I've cemented my sound signature, and at the same have become so sure of myself and my abilities. Presently I'm going into a new style of music, but I feel like I still have my own lane in it. In this moment I'm over being a lover girl and into being the other side of myself where I flex that confidence. I feel like it just adds another layer of showing who I am to my audience, and it's also been a positive way to channel my frustration.
You have such an impassioned, strong voice. Who are some other vocalists you look up to?
Some other vocalists and rap artists I'm inspired by would be Corrine Bailey Rae, FKA twigs, Solange, Enchanting, ICYTWAT, Playboi Carti, and really any artist who I can tell isn't faking a role.
First off, this track is truly phenomenal. What was the creative process like for “CANT TALK”? How was this track born?
Thank you, I’ve been wanting to release rap tracks for a while now. Throughout the years I’ve played with some rap tracks that I never released because it didn’t feel like the right time. However, circumstances that unfolded this year really changed me as a person, and rapping seemed like the outlet to go for with all this new aggression. In perfect timing, my cousin gives me this throw away beat and the chorus came to me instantly.

What was the inspiration for this project?
So "CAN'T TALK" and really this whole next era of music for me is inspired by everyone who’s pissed me off. I went through a few situations at the end of last year and earlier this year that I couldn’t really react to. I ducked off from the scene for a bit, tightened my circle, and really realized who was there for me. This silence of not being as public about my life really freed me because it became like if you know you know, if you don’t just watch. I realized I don’t need to give my energy away so freely like I had in the past, and really it’s a privilege for someone to get to know you. Within these months me and my two best friends ran around the city at cool parties, worked for high profile people, and upped our fashion game. Inspiration from real life and channeling all the energy of the things I could never say, I created "CAN'T TALK". We were on some real cash moves and I no longer felt the need to talk to certain people who didn’t deserve my time. Life is good without that anxiety of not knowing who to trust, and really having things going for you in real time is better than any social media clout so, I'd rather not talk to yall.
How did you come up with the concept for the music video? How did filming day go?
For the music video I knew I wanted to keep it simple, and have the focus be my performance and the shots. I really lagged on this project [never again] but I knew I wanted it to be in a cul-de-sac of a nice neighborhood because I like the space of a cul-de-sac. I scouted the location the night before and the colors came out perfect on accident, aren’t those always the best. Filming day was beautiful, it was just me and me good friend Bueze so I was really comfortable dancing around and we just had some fun with it. The whole shoot took about 2-3 hours but felt timeless, something I'll never forget and I'm happy who I did it with.
How does it feel to release “CAN’T TALK” into the world?
So exciting, this is really a song that is about to change the trajectory of my career. Being able to put put this new energy into my music and then performances is gonna be so much release for my own heart.
